How does A Magnetostrictive Sensor work?

 

In a magnetostrictive level transmitter, the sensor circuit excites a pulse current along a waveguide wire, creating a pulsed magnetic field. A float, equipped with permanent magnetic rings, moves along the sensor rod in response to liquid level changes. When the pulsed magnetic field interacts with the float's magnetic field, it generates a torsional wave pulse in the magnetostrictive material at the float's position. This pulse travels back along the waveguide at a fixed speed and is detected by the mechanism, allowing precise measurement of the liquid surface position by calculating the time difference between the pulse current and the torsional wave.
