If the melt flow into the mold is blocked, a sensor under the screen will send out an alarm to alert the operator. When a sensor upstream of the screen sounds an alarm, it is an indication that the extruder internal pressure is too high, possibly causing excessive wear on the screw. For manufacturers using melt pumps, it is necessary to measure the inlet and outlet pressures of the melt to ensure that the melt can flow continuously into the mold, because any obstruction may cause damage to the melt pump.
